I had 3 weekly sessions with Melody.

Melody has a very natural intuitive and healing approach, gentle, clear and fluid.

The exercises were easy to follow from her direction and I was impressed how adaptive she made it when there was something that was difficult for my body.

Since the sessions I’ve been doing x 2 daily practice and have noticed some remarkable improvements.

I now am able to sit comfortably on the floor and out in nature whereas for many years I’ve needed to carry a yoga chair as my back would get too sore and I’d get repercussions with back pain that I had to seek treatment for.

I have more lightness and ease of movement in my legs also and my overall flexibility and ability to move my body without stiffness and soreness is vastly improved.

I also noticed the exercises help my nervous system to relax, to ground my energy and improve the function of my digestive system.

In 19 years of seeking support for my back pain there is nothing I have found more effective than Melody’s somatic bodywork.

I had never heard of Somatics until the pain of my Fibromyalgia made my daily routine unbearable, I had to start looking for alternative healing options. Pharmaceuticals were making me fat, affecting my asthma, and driving me into depression so I started looking into hands on healing and that’s where I learned about Somatics & weight training for Fibromyalgia. I reached out to Melody to understand what Somatics could do for me; Melody helped me understand that my Fibromyalgia had been triggered by the trauma of a serious car accident and that the trauma was trapped inside my body wrecking my nervous system causing all my aliments. I had a fusion of 3 discs in my cervical spine (neck) made from my hip bone 30 years ago. The discs directly above and below the fusion eroded over time and the fusion collapsed into the spinal cord. I had cages inserted in place of the discs that eroded. I have a bulging disc in my lower back and wear and tear on the inside of my right knee which also eroded. So these 3 areas are quite stiff and I’m unable to walk properly.

I was truly shocked at the amount of fluidity I have in my movement after one session of somatics. I felt great straight away! Melody sent me an audio of two movements to do at home. When I came downstairs this morning, I was almost gliding! The movement seems to address all three things and make them not so stiff and more supple somehow! I don’t know how it works but it’s truly amazing. I can’t believe the benefit you get with so little effort. I have booked to go back for another session.

I really did not know what to expect, and certainly not the relief that I feel. After so many years of chronic pain, and the trauma of losing my son less than a year ago, its like a window opened that gave me hope. You have given me hope. I was gifted some somatics sessions from my mother for Christmas, and I have to say it was the most beautiful and supportive Christmas present I have ever received. Somatics enveloped me and gave me a foundation to work with alone. I have suffered a lot of emotional distress, 3 births and the obvious signs of life and changes. Melody's somatics class at the Shakti Den in Whitstable is a beautiful experience. I felt so relaxed afterwards. Melody's voice guides you through something so simple yet so deeply healing. I was seeing many beautiful colours and heard my body say 'thank you for doing this'. I slept for 10 hours the night after the class. I found the practise of somatics to be very deep but subtle almost primordial like my body could remember the coming togetherness, the connection. I would move one part and sense the effect elsewhere. It’s an exploration of the wholeness of who you are, so it isn’t just about what is going on within the body. I sensed it allowed me to connect with everything else around me as well. It had a very profound effect on going much deeper into my experience of me, through me, as me. It was very peaceful and calming. What I recognised was that the slower I went, the deeper I went. So that was quite an insightful learning I discovered through practising this work. I felt an expansion and an unwinding, so much so my yoga teacher commented on the change within my posture. I enjoyed the whole experience of somatics with Melody.

Somatic Movement is unlike anything else I have tried. I really enjoyed the slow, gentle pace, always being given the choice to go with my own ability and what felt good for me. I felt very safely held both in and between sessions by Melody and appreciated the support she offers throughout the process. The movements not only allowed me to move in ways I perhaps haven’t before but also eased tension in my body and allowed for emotional release along the way. Melody provides clear and concise voice recordings of movements to explore at home and they were super easy to incorporate into my day. I met Melody at a yoga retreat earlier this year where I attended one of her somatic sessions, after which I felt completely calm and relaxed. If somebody had told me after suffering for years with lower back pain and spasms, that after one session with Melody, I would feel relief straight away, I would have laughed in their face. Yet, this is exactly what happened!

I had three sessions in all with Melody and each time, as well as doing my movements day and night, I just felt better and better. Being pain-free after all these years of suffering, going to chiropractors, seeing doctors, and taking Nurofen daily, was just the most extraordinary feeling. I'd forgotten what it was like to not be in pain of some sort or another. The fact that my emotional well-being was also contributing to my physical well-being, was made clear. Once the physical pain subsided, so did the emotional pain. I can walk further, walk faster and stand straight without leaning over.

I decided to undertake a 6 week course with Melody and I am so glad I did as I was feeling very stressed and anxious at this time. I found that with each session of this very gentle somatic movement practice my nervous system became calmer and calmer. I also had hip and knee pain, stiffness and reduced movement and miraculously after completing the 6 sessions it completely disappeared and I’ve not been troubled since! This is definitely a whole body healing technique and Melody explains every single movement and checks that you are comfortable throughout.

Melody helped me with a painful and stiff area in my neck and shoulder over a series of online zoom sessions that set my healing process in motion after a long time of chronic pain. She was very attuned to the needs of my body and designed tailor made sessions and home exercises that helped ease all the tension. After 1 session with Melody I was able to enjoy a 10k walk along the beach with my dog, something I haven't been able to do for 6 months after developing severe hip pain that has been extremely debilitating.

After finally giving myself the time and space to start my healing journey I had a session of somatics with Melody online

From my perspective of what feels like a lifetime of exercise, yoga, meditation, nutrition and general well-being, still my body has been in a lot of pain and though I can always soothe this through my own practice it never truly goes away

So coming from a slightly egotistical place I went with the programme set for me by Melody listening to her clear precise instructions and relaxed into the session

My pain area in particular is my groin and pelvis and when working through I could feel every part of my pelvis working

There was so much fluctuation there weaving through the exercises and at times slight discomfort but due to a regular iyengar practice I’m quite used to that

To focus on just that area as opposed to leg and arm strength felt different for me

I felt very relaxed and the time went quickly

I felt the benefit instantaneously, my hips were more open, I walked with no pain in my lower back

My front body feels lighter and lifted, my pelvic floor stronger and tighter

Coming from a place of a life time of bodywork I can honestly say I’ve never had such a noticeable improvement in just one session from any therapeutic therapy

Last summer I was having back problems that resulted in severe sciatica in my left buttock and leg. It was so bad that I couldn’t sit at my desk to work, walk (I was crawling around my flat) etc. It eased up a bit but I was still unable to sit, stand or walk for longer than 5 mins without having to lie down or sit on my side. My flat mate suggested I see our friend Melody who could help with such problems. The doctor had only given me loads of tablets which quite frankly did nothing to ease the pain. So I was booked in to see a specialist who saw how bad I was and subsequently booked me in for an mri scan weeks later (the nhs is very slow). In the meantime I started having Somatic treatment with Melody. I’d never heard of it before but gave it a try as I trusted Melody. The sessions were pain free and Melody gave me some exercises to do at home morning and night. Within 4/5 sessions I had experienced a massive transformation. I was able to start working again. By the time I went back to see to specialist to see the mri scan results, he was shocked at my recovery. He’d never heard of somatics but recommended I continued doing the exercises. I can’t express how well somatics worked for me from Melody’s sessions. If you’ve had back problems which the doctors haven’t been able to cure, I would highly recommend having a course of treatment with Melody who is warm, friendly and easy to work with.
